Group celebrates National Condom Awareness Day

It’s not only Valentine’s Day, but also “National Condom Awareness Day”.A man dressed up as “Captain Condom” is passing out condoms today in downtown Iowa City as part of the event. Joseph Dobbert with the Iowa Center for Aids Resources and Education or “I-CARE”, says they use Captain Condom to take a fun approach to talking about safe sex.Captain Condom is joined by Jamie the canine condom companion.The dog wears saddle bags that contain condoms. Dobbert hopes their message carries on throughout the year.Captain Condom and his dog are passing out the condoms and information today at an Iowa City pedestrian mall.
