Alford says his team isn’t out of NCAA hunt

Iowa coach Steve Alford says to have any hope of gaining a bid to a post season tournament, the Hawkeyes will need a strong finish to the regular season. The Hawkeyes are 11-12 after a loss at Illinois and Alford says if they can finish with a winning record they may get some consideration. He says his team is capable of attaining that record if they work at it. Alford says key national wins against U-Conn, Kansas and Ohio State could work in their favor.Alford says like all the teams in the bottom half of a conference race the Hawks are looking for a strong finish.Alford says Iowa’s up and down streak as of late is due in part to a lack of experience but also is a reflection of how good the Big Ten is.Iowa visits Purdue on Wednesday.
