Iowa Conference race heats up

February 17, 2000 By admin

The race for seeding position in the upcoming Iowa conference tournament is the focus this weekend as the regular season comes to a close. On the men’s side Upper Iowa is 12-6 and trails second place Coe by a game. Coach Stu Engen says their goal right now is a second place finish.Engen says they would have to win both games this weekend to have a chance because Coe owns the tiebreaker. On the women’s side, Wartburg trails league-leading Simpson by a game and coach Monica Severson says the important thing for her team is to win their games against Coe and Loras. With Simpson having dropped four of its last five games, Severson feels the conference tournament will be more wide open.
