UNI and Drake lose in men’s basketball

February 24, 2000 By admin

Northern Iowa cut an 11-point Evansville lead down to two late in the game but the Aces made their free throws down the stretch for a 67-58 victory. U-N-I coach Sam Weaver says they’re a good basketball team that’s going to hit key free throws down the stretch. Evansville finished 17 of 20 from the line while the Panthers made just four of five. Hampered by cold shooting, the Drake Bulldogs fell to Southwest Missouri State 55-47 in the home finale Wednesday night. For the game, Drake made just 15 of 54 shots for 28-percent and the Bears took command with an eight-oh run midway through the second half.Drake coach Kurt Kanaskie says his team played hard.
