The Variety Club of Iowa Telethon will air this weekend on T-V stations across the Hawkeye State. Variety Club President Joe Proctor says he was overwhelmed by the support in 1999 and hopes to surpass it this time.Proctor says the telethon brought in four-and-a-half-million dollars last year & the goal is only to beat that mark this year.The Variety Club aims to help disabled, disadvantaged or at-risk children statewide yearlong. Proctor says there’ll be a variety of stars helping raise money for the charity this weekend.The broadcast will originate from four locations: Altoona, Cedar Rapids, Sioux City and the Quad Cities. It begins at 8 p-m Saturday and ends 22 hours later at 6 p-m Sunday.
