Catholics set to celebrate 2000th birthday

Catholics in Iowa are preparing for one of the biggest celebrations in the history of the church. The church will celebrate “Jublilee 2000” on Sunday, April 30th. Jim Bond is the director of worship for the Des Moines Diocese. He says Jubilee 2000 celebrates the 2000th anniversary of the church. Bond hopes the year brings Catholics closer to their church as they decide how they will grow in the third millennium.Catholics in Iowa will all celebrate Jubliee 2000 with special masses. There are about half a million Catholics in the state.
