When it comes to making vacation plans this year, Disney World’s loss could be Iowa’s gain. Projected high gasoline prices through summer might convince some Midwesterners to forget about packing the minivan & heading for Florida. Iowa Division of Tourism administrator Nancy Landess says the trend is toward shorter, more frequent vacation trips.Landess says high fuel prices won’t keep people from getting away from it all, they just might not get as far away. Her staff is working to lure them to the Hawkeye State. She says Iowans are being encouraged to vacation in Iowa & tourism promotions are running in out-of-state cities including: Chicago, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Saint Louis and Milwaukee.
