Iowa’s season ends at Big Ten tourney

Dean Oliver scored 30 points — a career high — but Iowa fell to Michigan State last night, 75 to 65. Oliver didn’t score a point in Thursday night’s opening round victory over Minnesota, but last night the junior from Mason City canned 11 of 17 shots from the field. Iowa coach Steve Alford remembers how hard it was as a player to come back after a bad game.The Hawkeyes fell behind by 11 points in the opening minutes of the game, but Iowa came back to trail by just four at half-time. Iowa pulled to within one in the second half but Michigan State held off the Hawk rally.Iowa closes the season with 14 wins and 16 losses.
