Gay Iowa teacher featured on national magazine

A Des Moines elementary school teacher is featured on the cover of the latest issue of Newsweek magazine. Tim Tutt is one of five “professionals” featured under the headline “Gay Today.” Tutt, who is 36 years old, has been getting lots of positive feedback.Tutt had few qualms about subjecting himself to possible harassment because of such a high-profile picture. He says he felt the picture would do more good than harm.Tutt recently received the prestigious “Miliken Family Foundation National Education Award” for his work with his 4th graders. The achievement carries a 25-thousand dollar award.
