The semifinals are underway at the boy’s state basketball tournament. Every good tournament run needs a little magic along the way and Boyden-Hull got some in the 1-A semifinals. Greg Anderson’s three pointer from the top of the key sent the game to overtime and Boyden-Hull downed Bellevue Marquette 75-73 in the 1-A semifinals. Center Travis Hulstein (hull-steen) led Boyden-Hull with 20-points but he fouled out midway through overtime with the Comets trailing 73-70.Tom Sieverding led Bellevue Marquette with 32-points but says the Anderson three pointer to tie the game shifted the momentum heading into overtime.Defending champion Newell-Fonda heads back to the title game. The Mustangs built a 14-point third quarter lead and held off a late comeback by top-ranked Lynnville-Sully for a 66-62 victory. Brandon Kies (keese) led Newell-Fonda with 20-points and says their depth became a factor as the game wore on.Lynnville-Sully coach Glenn Fiihr (fear) says it took too long to solve Newell-Fonda’s press.
