March 23, 2000 By admin

Iowa State plays U-C-L-A tonight in the semifinal round of the Midwest regional in Auburn Hills, Michigan. At one point U-C-L-A stood 12-8 on the season, but Cyclone coach Larry Eustachy says the Bruins are playing as well as anybody right now.One of Iowa State’s strengths has been its transition defense and Eustachy says that will be tested by U-C-L-A.All season, the Cyclones have been trying to earn respect but Eustachy feels that fight is over.Iowa State forward Marcus Fizer says an impressive victory over Maryland showed just how well the Bruins are playing.Fizer says the key is not what U-C-L-A will do but how the Cyclones play.
