Governor won’t criticize coaches outburst

March 27, 2000 By admin

Governor Tom Vilsack says he can understand Iowa State coach Larry Eustachy’s anger at the end of Saturday night’s N-C-Double-A tournament loss to Michigan State. At his weekly news conference this morning, Governor Vilsack was asked by a reporter if he approved or disapproved of Eustachy’s conduct, Vilsack says thousands of Iowans watching the game probably would have been embarrased by their conduct at points in the game. Vilsack says he’s not willing to take that one incident, out of context, and be critical of Eustachy. Eustachy was ejected from the game with nine-point-nine seconds left after he picked up two technical fouls for arguing with the officials.
