Oscar winner has Iowa ties

It’s a proud day in southwest Iowa for the relatives of Hilary Swank. Swank won the Oscar for best actress Sunday night for her role in the movie “Boys Don’t Cry.” Several of Swank’s relatives gathered together inMount Ayr to watch the broadcast. Shirley Hightshoe, Swank’s Aunt, says it was hard to believe it when they saw Swank winning the award.says Swank has visited Ringgold County quite often and has several relatives in the area.Before winning the Oscar, Swank was better know for work on the T-V show “Beverly Hills 90210” and the movie “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”
