Bees ready to buzz the Midwest League

The Midwest League baseball season opens on Thursday and the Burlington Bees will raise a championship flag from the 1999 season prior to their opener against the Clinton Lumberkings. The Bees have a new general manager this season. Chuck Brockett is familiar with the franchise because he is a native of Burlington.Brockett says he is tying up loose ends before the season begins.With the addition of Dayton this season the Midwest League continues to land in larger markets. Brockett says being in a small market like Burlington has special challenges and being community owned has kept baseball alive.Brockett says the challenges of a small market begin with attendance. He says he’d like to see bigger crowds.
