Bluder says Iowa is the right fit

Iowa women’s athletic director Dr. Christine Grant today introduced Lisa Bluder as the school’s new women’s basketball coach. She says Bluder’s coaching peers describe her as “highly ethical, classy, dedicated and an examplory role model. Bluder says it was the right opportunity, as she’s always said it would take the perfect opportunity to get her to leave Drake.Bluder spent the last ten seasons at Drake, and she says it was not an easy decision to leave.Bluder led Drake to a 23-7 record this past season and a fourth trip to the N-C-A-A tournament. But Bluder says that season also showed her she had taken the program as far as it could go. They won their conference and conference tournament and still ended up only an 8th seed in the NCAA tournament due to their conference.
