Gold medal 400 meter runner to race at Drake

Reigning Olympic gold medallist Derrick Adkins will return to the Drake Relays this month to run in the special 400 invitational hurdles. Adkins will be part of a solid field that will include former Northern Iowa standout Joey Woody and Adkins says the race comes at the right time as he begins another run at the Olympics.The Summer Olympics are this fall but Adkins says he is focused only on the Olympic Trials right now.Adkins says he has a goal for a time he’d like to run at Drake. He’s like to run faster than 49 seconds and run in a very competitive race.
