A survey by an Iowa City organization that conducts college entrance exams finds high school and college teachers aren’t on the same page when it comes to preparing a student for college.A-C-T Incorporated spokesperson Kelley Hayden says the survey found high school teachers focus on all academic skills, where college teachers think more general reasoning skills are important. Hayden says the impact of the differing philosophies depends on the subject. He says it’s a major difference in parts of math and in other parts of math it’s not a problem at all.He says the difference in opinion doesn’t make it any easier on college freshmen, as it’s another thing they have to adjust to.Hayden says it is something that can be corrected with a little better communication between colleges and high schools.Hayden says A-C-T surveyed over 65-hundred college and high school instructors across the country.
