Grassley applauds state ethanol bill

April 18, 2000 By admin

The Iowa Senate is getting a nod from U-S Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa for its passage Monday of a pro-ethanol bill. The measure would require the corn-based fuel be offered in all gas stations statewide but did NOT include a section requiring it be offered in its lowest octane form. Grassley says the bill is a “small step forward” to advance use of the fuel. The bill heads next to the Iowa House.Members of Congress are on recess this week for Easter Break. Senator Grassley says he’s glad to be watching the massive World Bank protests in Washington D-C from his T-V in Iowa instead of in person.Grassley was in the midst of last year’s protests at the World Trade Organization talks in Seattle which he said were not handled nearly as well by police.
