Bill seeks to help victims

April 25, 2000 By admin

The U-S Senate is expected to debate a victims rights amendment to the Constitution this week. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says the measure aims to protect the interests of victims of violent crimes by giving victims the right to be notified about any public proceeding involving the case.Grassley says it would also mandate that crime victims are notified when the person convicted in their case escapes or is released from prison and it would ensure their entitlement to restitution.
