Governor Vilsack is assembling a state task force to get expert advice on what the state should do to respond to a possible drought. He says they are contacting various ag groups looking for nominations to the task force.Although the feds control most farm policy, Vilsack says there are a few things state government can do, such as issuing emergency declarations.Vilsack says he also wants reports on water shortages to determine where and when the National Guard might be called upon to provide drinking water.Vilsack made his comments during his weekly news conference in Des Moines.
