Vilsack wants someone who knows business to lead the DNR

May 8, 2000 By admin

Governor Tom Vilsack is looking for a business-friendly person to head the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. D-N-R director Paul Johnson is leaving the job Thursday. Vilsack says it’s important to find a replacement who can create a bridge to the business community. He says the state needs to work with businesses so they know the rules so violations don’t occur.Vilsack says Johnson’s leaving primarily because of his frustration that Iowa’s Department of Natural Resources ranks 51st among the states and Puerto Rico in terms of state spending.
