George W. Bush returns to Iowa

May 10, 2000 By admin

Republican presidential frontrunner George W. Bush focused on issues involving the elderly during a stop in Davenport today. Bush is calling for a full federal tax deduction for Americans who purchase long-term care insurance. Bush says his goal is to make long-term care available and affordable so Americans don’t have to drain away their savings as they get older. Bush says he’s happy to be leading Democrat Al Gore by eight percent in the polls. But, he says there’s a long way to go in the race. The stop in Davenport was Bush’s only Iowa appearance today.
