A 24-year-old Fayette County man kept authorities at bay Wednesday during a standoff in the northwest part of the county. The unidentified man threatened to harm himself and others with a shotgun and surrendered after about seven hours. The man was taken to Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo for a psychiatric evaluation.
