Iowans urged to call "One Call" before digging

May 12, 2000 By admin

Iowans are being urged to dial before they dig. “Iowa One Call” is a service designed to help those who are digging or excavating mark underground electric, gas, phone, cable t-v and water lines. The agency donated a “tulip tree” for the Iowa Capitol grounds — and First Lady Christie Vilsack planted it this afternoon. Mrs. Vilsack’s husband has designated the month of May as “Iowa One Call” month. By law, you must phone “Iowa One Call” 48 hours before you dig, or you face fines. The “Iowa One Call” number is 1-800-292-8989.
