Iowa City and Cedar Rapids giving good rankings for business

May 16, 2000 By admin

Cedar Rapids and Iowa City are near the top of Forbes magazine’s list of “best places to do business.” Cedar Rapids ranked 16th and on a separate ranking of small cities, Iowa City ranked second. Todd Borgen is president of “Priority One” — a division of the Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce.Borgen says the ranking is proof the city is growing in the right direction.Borgen says Cedar Rapids now needs to attract more people to the area to expand the pool of potential workers. Forbes magazine rated 200 U-S cities based on wage and salary growth, job growth and the growth of technology over the past five years. Des Moines ranked near the middle, at 110, and the Quad Cities ranked 175th.
