Governor Tom Vilsack says sexual misconduct by prison guards will not be tolerated. State prison officials have been sued half a dozen times in the past decade for allowing inappropriate sexual contact between female inmates and their male guards. Vilsack says a lawsuit, however, is an allegation, not proof something occured. Nevertheless, the first-term Governor has directed his prison chief to review the training prison guards at the women’s prison undergo. Vilsack says he also wants to make sure prison administrators have the proper training to detect inappropriate sexual behavior.
