Graduates busted for celebrating at keggers

May 26, 2000 By admin

Several eastern Iowa high school graduates are in trouble after being caught at illegal graduation parties. Scott County Sheriff’s Deputies cited several dozen North Scott High School seniors for underage drinking Tuesday night. Deputies broke up the party in a farm field near Princeton and seized three kegs of beer. More than 150 Bettendorf graduates were involved in a party in a cornfield also near Princeton Wednesday night. Deputies and state troopers surrounded the party and rounded up the graduates as they tried to flee. The last were caught early Thursday morning, scratched and dirty. Around 80 were cited for underage drinking and officers seized nine kegs of beer and a pickup truck. The party started just hours after the Bettendorf principal had warned seniors to act responsibly.
