Burlington baseball rebuild working fine

The Burlington high school baseball team is off to a good start in its rebuilding effort this season. Coach Dan Reid says his team is 5-1 despite losing nearly his entire starting lineup from last year’s team that played in the state tournament.Reid says his team has a tremendous attitude and that’s what it takes to be competitive in the Mississippi Athletic Conference.Burlington opens conference play Friday with a doubleheader against defending class 3-A champion Davenport Assumption. Reid says the last few years they have played well against Assumption. He says in 1996 they swept a double-header from Assumption, which he says is very rare.Burlington takes a 5-1 mark against class 3A 7th ranked Fairfield tonight.
