Dyersville toymaker laying off more employees

June 8, 2000 By admin

A northeastern Iowa toy maker is making more cuts in its once-large staff. Ertl Toy Company is laying off 30 workers at its Dyersville plant. 80 were let go last spring. In 1995, hundreds were fired when much of Ertl’s manufacturing work was moved to Mexico and China. Back in the 1950s, the company employed more than one thousand. Now, it’s around one hundred.
