Stuffed bears bring in big money

June 9, 2000 By admin

It’s hardly kid’s stuff. Stuffed bears with price tags of several thousand dollars are the focal point of the “Teddy Bear Reunion” in Clarion, which opens tonight. Kim Dobstaff-Sharrot, secretary of the Iowa Teddy Bear Makers Guild, says there’s a big auction tomorrow night. The event is expected to draw teddy bear collectors from around the world to the north-central Iowa town. Dobstaff-Sharrot says most of the serious collectors won’t be able to walk away without spending big dollars for their little obsessions. She says the Teddy Bear Reunion features a host of events all weekend, including the auction at 7 p-m Friday. The Reunion will conclude Sunday.
