It’s a day to honor the flag

June 14, 2000 By admin

Today is the day when all Americans are encouraged to fly the “Stars and Stripes.” National Flag Day was approved by Congress in 1949. Toni Carberry is a salesman at A-D Flag Headquarters in Des Moines. Carberry says interest in “Old Glory” remains pretty steady. They sell flags everyday with business picking up around Flag Day, Father’s Day, the 4th of July and other holidays. Carberry says a simple all-purpose nylon three-by-five flag is their biggest seller. If you would like a special flag, you can order one that has been flown over the U-S Capitol. To order one of these flags, contact your Congressman or one of Iowa’s two U-S Senators.
