Severe weather doesn’t deter fair queen contest

June 14, 2000 By admin

Severe weather did not prevent the crowning of the Jasper County Fair Queen. A power outage halfway through the pageant forced contestants to get ready for the formal wear portion of the competition by flashlight. Fair Board members brought in several candles to light the stage so the competition could continue. The lights did come back on in time for the formal crowning of the queen.
