Trumpet music will be in the air around Cedar Rapids today as the “Grand Celebration of Brass Bands” is held in the Ushers Ferry Historic Village. The event gathers brass bands from eastern Iowa, Ohio and Illinois in addition to a local youth band. Village director Vicki Hughes says all of the bands merge for one big performance at six p-m in what’s called the Mass Band Finale.
