The Executive Director of the Iowa Civil Liberties Union says a U-S Supreme Court ruling today strengthened religious liberty in America. The High Court ruled public schools couldn’t let students lead prayers over the public address system at high school football games. I-C-L-U Executive Director Ben Stone says the court’s ruling should end so-called student-initiated prayer at all school-sponsored events. He says the court made a clear statement that schools are not in the business of promoting religion through school events.Stone says the ruling won’t have any radical impact on religion in schools. He says students still have a constitutional right to pray at school as long at it doesn’t interfere with school activities.Stone says praying before football games hasn’t been a problem in Iowa. The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 against the public prayer before football games in a Texas case.
