Board votes to fire teacher over his past

The Laporte City Union School Board has fired an elementary school principal after learning why he left his previous job.Mike Whittlesey was placed on administrative leave after school officials learned Whittlesey had been fired in Kansas for alleged sexual misconduct with two girls. Whittlesey asked the Union School Board for a public hearing to talk about the issue. Some 250 people showed up to support Whittlesey and presented a petition in support with 500 signatures. School Board members however voted 5-2 to fire Whittlesey. Whittlesey has five days to appeal the firing.
