Former Iowa Governor Terry Branstad is launching a new, national organization called the “Global Aviation Improvement Network” or GAIN. The kick-off event was held yesterday in Charlotte, North Carolina. Branstad calls it a grassroots effort to get local and state officials involved in getting better air travel.Branstad says the group’s goal is to expand air service, as well as the number of “hub” cities.The organization is being bankrolled by United Airlines. Branstad says many cities like Des Moines need greater and quicker airline access to other parts of the world, and he hopes to recruit Iowans into the GAIN group.
