Sioux City baseball teams enjoy success

Some of the best high school baseball is being played in Sioux City this summer. The four schools in the city are all ranked in the latest Radio Iowa/Coaches poll. Sioux City East has been strong the last few years and is rated third in class 4-A. Coach Steve Shanks says the talent level in Sioux City has improved the last few years.Shanks says games this summer have been competitive in the city and the schools also try to find out how they matchup against teams from across the state.Sioux City North qualified for the state tournament last year and is ranked 10th in 4-A this week. North coach Kelly Neustrom says the competition in the city helps all the teams.Neustrom says when one school has success the other schools try to reach that level.Sioux City West debuted at number-seven this week. Sioux City Heelan is ranked sixth in class 3-A.
