Vilsack says he isn’t a viable candidate for VP

June 22, 2000 By admin

Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack said today talk about him becoming Al Gore’s Vice Presidential running mate is just that — talk. Vilsack is in northeast Iowa on his walking tour across the state. He was asked about the running mate rumors during a stop at a restaurant in Lawler. Vilsack doesn’t think Gore believes having him aboard would help the ticket. Vilsack says if Gore asks him to take the job, he would. He says the “reality is, that’s not gonna happen.” The Governor wants to walk across the state in the next three years to meet and talk with Iowans.
