Iowa Ag Secretary Patty Judge says it’s time for a state investigation of high gas prices. Judge says Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller should file a lawsuit against “big oil” just as he did against computer giant Microsoft. If the high gas prices continue into this fall and winter, Judge says the legislature and governor should consider suspending the state gas tax. Judge says she’s prefer, though, that policymakers keep the heat on petroleum companies to ‘fess up to price gouging. Indiana this week suspended gasoline taxes assessed by the state and Illinois legislators meet next week to consider the same thing. The majority of taxes charged on gasoline are federal, however. Judge made her comments on the Iowa Public TV program “Iowa Press.”
