Fire officials are warning Iowans to take precautions with fireworks this holiday weekend. Sioux City fire department spokesman Brian Thiele says most fireworks are illegal in Iowa.Sparklers and snakes are just about the only fireworks legal to buy and set-off in Iowa. Thiele says Sioux City is in a unique position since other fireworks are legal across the state border.Thiele says even legal fireworks can cause damage if not used properly.Thiele recommends having a bucket of water handy to douse the sparklers once they’ve flared their colored rays of light.
