A new website developed by the Iowa Attorney General’s office gives farmers and ranchers a look at the production and marketing contracts being used today. Assistant A-G Steve Moline says the site lists copies of real contracts.Moline says the contracts give a more accurate picture of what’s being paid for grain and cattle.Moline says a recent change in Iowa law prohibits companies from forcing confidentiality clauses into contracts they make with farmers. He says farmers can check the contracts by getting on-line.You can go to the Attorney General’s website at www.iowaattorneygeneral.org and then go to the “farm advocacy” menu to find the contract site. Moline says the website also has a check-list for farmers considering grain and livestock production contracts.
