Clinton holds state’s largest Independence Day celebration

Iowa’s largest Independence Day celebration is underway in Clinton with the 39th Annual Riverboat Days Festival. Organizers say the five-day fest features all of the traditional entertainment, a carnival, a feast of food and powerboat racing.Joan Current, a spokeswoman for Riverboat Days, says there are several big name country and rock music acts playing on Clinton’s main stage along the Mississippi River. The opener was Tanya Tucker last night.Current says Clinton is proud of its annual festival and is rolling out a red, white and blue carpet for visitors.For more information, call 800-395-7277.
