The third annual “Maize Maze” will open its gates Saturday to residents and tourists in Northeast Iowa. Linda Beck, coordinator for the maze in Elkader, says everything is ready to go, even though the stalks are a little short due to problems with nitrogen levels.Beck says this year’s maze takes the shape of an historic fort in Winneshiek County.For the past two years the corn maze has been in Elgin and plans are underway for Harpers Ferry in Allamakee County to host the Maze next year.
