Ward looks to catch more balls for the Jets

July 5, 2000 By admin

As the calendar turns to July, N-F-L players begin thinking about the start of training camp. New York Jets wide receiver Dedric Ward hopes numerous off season changes don’t hurt the Jets chances in the A-F-C East this season. Head coach Bill Parcels resigned after last season but the former U-N-I standout believes to transition to new coach Al Groh will not be difficult. With Keyshawn Johnson gone to Tampa Bay, Ward figures to have a more prominent role in the Jets offense. He says Johnson caught 80 to 100 balls a year and that leaves more for everyone else.Ward feels he has established himself as a solid N-F-L receiver.Ward believes the success of Kurt Warner has helped all the former U-N-I players.
