Supreme Court boots rude judge off the bench

July 6, 2000 By admin

In an extremely rare move, the Iowa Supreme Court has tossed a 50-year-old judge from Marshalltown off the bench. The justices on the Iowa Supreme Court said Marshall County District Associate Judge Sandra Holien was “consistently hostile, volatile and disrespectful” of most everyone who happened to be in her courtroom, for whatever reason. The Justices said her “civility toward fellow judges, court employees, attorneys and the public was almost totally lacking.” The capper, though, was that the High Court found Holien adamantly refused to follow the rules of criminal procedure and the rules which ensure courtrooms are open to the public. Last September, Holein was suspended from her job, with pay, while complaints were investigated.
