Board says nurse scammed patient out of thousands of dollars

The Iowa Board of Nursing has charged a Des Moines nurse with unethical conduct for taking thousands of dollars from a patient. The Board says Selina Banda-Orman talked the patient into giving her more than 500-thousand dollars in gifts.Nursing Board Executive Director Lorinda Inman says nurse Banda-Orman has also been charged with professional incompetence for providing unauthorized home care to the patient.Inman says the board has scheduled an August 10th hearing to determine if the complaint is valid.The complaint says Banda-Orman cared for the unnamed patient from the fall of 1998 through December of 1999.
