An autopsy is being performed this morning on a Des Moines-area boy who was found dead in a family car yesterday afternoon, parked in front of his home. Authorities were summoned to the Bondurant home after a 9-1-1 call.Sergeant Neil Shultz, of the Polk County Sheriff’s Department, says foul play is -not- suspected as the boy likely died from heat-related injuries. He says it appears the child’s mother simply lost track of the boy and of the time. The two-and-a-half-year-old child’s name has not yet been released. Reports indicate the boy was shut up in the hot car for about two hours. All windows in the car were up. Sergeant Shultz says the investigation is still underway.Temperatures reached the mid to upper-80s yesterday in the Des Moines area.
