The Iowa State Fair opens one month from today. Fans of the big event can show their support by purchasing an illustrated history book entitled “Our State Fair, Iowa’s Blue Ribbon Story.” Fair officials say the 264-page hardcover book is packed with pictures to chronicle the long tradition.Amy Houston is assistant director of the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation. Houston says the book contains more than 700 black-and-white and color photographs, which tell the tale of the 146-year-old state fair over the many generations of Iowans.The six chapters of the book are: Competition, Culture, Entertainment, History, Architecture — and Agriculture. Houston says all proceeds from the book sales will go toward preserving and renovating the state fair.The book costs 29-75 if it’s ordered before the fair and 35-dollars after August 10th.
