Ever pulled the prank where you razz someone by taking them on a fictious snipe hunt? Iowa Department of Natural Resources wildlife biologist Guy Zenner has a news flash, there are snipe in Iowa and real snipe hunts.Snipe are a small wading bird that like to stay near the shoreline, he says they’re often mistake for ducks.Zenner says snipe are “pretty tasty,” if prepared properly. Zenner says snipe are difficult to shoot because they fly in a zigzag pattern and they live in boggy habitat.Zenner has no idea how the snipe hunting joke came about.
