Gas prices drop

July 14, 2000 By admin

The bite taken out of your wallet at the gas pump is starting to get a little smaller. Department of Natural Resources spokesman David Downing says gas prices have dropped several cents in some areas. The price of a gallon of unleaded gas is down to a dollar-forty-five cents in eastern Iowa. Downing says the drop is coming a little slower in Iowa’s larger cities as suppliers got caught in trying to anticipate price increases and have lots of high-price gas still on hand.Downing says an increase in oil production and an oversupply in the midwest are the reasons for the price decline.Gas prices had risen as high as a dollar-and-80-cents a gallon.
